Sales Data Analyst

Job Description

Summary

The sales data analyst will be responsible for creation and administration of sales analytics, costing, pricing, grouping and categorizing, margin analysis, volume/product/mix analysis, backlog tracking, trends and metrics improvement, profit maximization. The analyst will be a liaison between the systems data and the sales team. The analyst will continuously create and drive value.

  

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

  1. Collects, analyzes, evaluates and reports data to increase general sales productivity.
  2. Develops and administers a cloud-based reporting of sales metrics and dashboards.
  3. Develops, maintains and continuously improves interactive backlog – open orders tracking and sales database reporting.
  4. Consolidates multiple sources of sales data into one well-organized database.
  5. Analyzes new orders, verifies price/cost/margin information – addresses issues with broader team, drives actions to correct anomalies, both immediately identified as well as ongoing issues.
  6. Critically evaluates pricing attributes of sales, proposes and drives strategies to maximize profits.
  7. Maintains proper grouping and categorization of the sales data. Provides dashboards to the team.
  8. Conquers Volume/Margin/Mix analysis.
  9. Identifies and communicates important sales trends and metrics. Proposes changes.  
  10. Tracks sales rep performance – current and past.
  11. Tracks commissions.
  12. Analyzes and evaluates shipping data and trends. Corrects any deviations. 
  13. Assists the sales team with future sales projections, trends and pipeline.
  14. Conducts market and competitor SWOT analysis.
  15. Drives value by cascading information to the sales team. Provides training and guidance.
  16. Assists in the monthly sales forecasting process including various pro forma scenarios as requested.
  17. Performs other related duties as required and assigned including ad-hoc financial analysis.
  18. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and agency information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a sales analysis position or related experience.
  • Excel expert – need to master Excel Power Query and MS Power BI within the first 90 days.
    Basic database knowledge is a plus.
  • Must be highly analytical.
  • Problem solving and big data/systems savvy.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Detail oriented individual. A critical thinker.
  • Ability to work with no supervision and demonstrate completion of projects assigned.
  • Ability to build and maintain complex computer applications and programs performing analysis, organize data and create reports from various sources.
  • Ability to capture and document business and reporting requirements from multiple sources.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.

§  Must be authorized to work in the USA.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Requires sitting or standing for a prolonged period of time.
  • Requires dexterity and coordination to handle files, boxes and materials.
  • Requires minimum reaching for items above and below desk level.
  • Requires strength, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.

§  Requires walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

§  Requires repetitive movements with fingers, hands, wrist, and arms.

§  Requires traveling when needed.
