Senior Staff Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. This person is responsible for the completion and accuracy of the bank reconciliations, in addition to various account reconciliations and cost analyses.

Essential duties and accountabilities

  1. Supports the preparation of monthly financial reports.
  2. No less than biweekly, analyze trends of various costs and revenues for validity and makes any required corrections.
  3. Prepares various account analysis and reconciliations (to include B/S accounts, roll forwards and accruals).
  4. Prepares project accounting schedules; coordinates and leads monthly meetings.
  5. Completes bank reconciliations and responsible for researching all variances.
  6. Prepares month-end payroll journal entry and accruals.
  7. Runs required month-end reports.
  8. Prepares commission payments and reports.
  9. Prepares and files reports to comply with State and Federal taxes.
  10. Performs addition duties as necessary and required.
  11. Coordinates the collection of all subsidiary monthly schedules and reconciliations and reviews for completeness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years’ experience in accounting.
  • Detail oriented with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work in team environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs.

Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials.

Moving from place to place within the organization, minimal reaching for items above and below desk level.

Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
