Position Summary: Operate the Autoclave, pre-run integrity check, prepare the parts to be autoclaved, monitor and verify the cycle to be performed,  unload and load the autoclave, record data on required forms, perform operator maintenance activities for autoclave. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Produce parts required, in the quantity needed, in the time frame assigned for said production work. Operator should ensure that there is minimal material waste and/or loss during the performance of their respective job.

·         Keep autoclave area clean and free of foreign objects;

·         Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations;

·         Uses chemicals, adhesives, solvents, lubricants, epoxies, paints, and inks, as required, with the Personal Protective Equipment required by the organization;

·         Perform autoclave functions, using designated equipment and tools as required;

o   Perform General Maintenance – check hoses, thermocouples, consumables inventory, autoclave racks, autoclave ports, etc.;

o   Load and Unload autoclaves;

o   Perform integrity checks;

o   Run recipes according to Work Instructions and Reference Documents;

o   Monitor autoclave runs;

o   Prep runs (minimizing downtime);

o   Accurately generate and complete all necessary process records;

o   Follow approved troubleshooting guidelines in the event of a deviation from the recipe; and

o    Identify opportunities for improvement related to autoclave process.

·         Report defective materials or questionable safety and quality conditions to the Manufacturing Manager.

 

Other duties and areas may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications/requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

 

Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.

 

May be required to work daily overtime and occasional weekends.

 

Compliance with all personnel policies.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:  This position requires use of and access to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).  Accordingly, all Autoclave Operators must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.  ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Regularly required to stand, and move about the facility. Regularly required to perform physical work with hands during entire shift. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Work usually performed in a production floor. May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the assembly process. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, unless otherwise noted by safety signage.

Education/Training/Experience: Minimum of high school education required. Experience in autoclave or operation of complex equipment preferred. Experience in manufacturing environment preferred. Operator must be computer literate, and be able to attain forklift certification within 30 days of job assignment.
