Staff Accountant

Job Description


The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing account reconciliations, journal entries and various month end reports. This person is also responsible for the completion and accuracy of the bank reconciliations, payroll allocations and AMEX activity.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

1.      Prepares various account analysis and reconciliations.

2.      Completes bank reconciliations and researches all variances to include check logs.

3.      Prepares month-end payroll journal entry and accruals.

4.      Review expenses (i.e., insurance, warehouse supplies, etc.) and allocate amongst business units.

5.      Codes and balances monthly Amex charges.

6.      Assist with providing information for company annual audits (Annual, Tax, 401K, etc.).

7.      Runs required month-end reports and files according to document retention guidelines.

8.      Ensures completeness of subsidiary company records. (collection of data from related entities)

9.      Prepares various journal entries for month end close.

10.  Performs auditing back-up for account payable checks.

11.  Responsible for working according to the company’s safety and quality standards.

12.  Maintains a safe and clean work area.

13.  Performs other related duties as required and or as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Two (2) years of experience in general accounting.
  • Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs such as Word and Excel.
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function for this position.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Requires sitting for a prolonged period of time.
  • Requires dexterity and coordination to handle files, boxes and materials with occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Requires minimum reaching for items above and below desk level.
  • Requires strength, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods
