Product Designer is responsible for planning and developing designs
solutions, evaluations, and supporting documentation for production and
training of those products.
duties and accountabilities
1. Assist with preparation of the
design benefit analysis.
2. Coordinates with other team members
to identify Engineering Support and Design resources required to complete
each assigned project.
3. Prepares schedules for assigned
projects that identify major tasks and completion dates.
4. Maintains files that include
electronic copies of all project documentation. Scan and file non-electronic documentation
appropriate to each project.
5. Designs Ballistic Garments and
Accessories based upon specific design criteria.
6. Conducts and document the results
of Form and Fit Evaluations of Body Armor Systems.
7. Identifies potential system
improvements based on the results of Form and Fit Evaluations and adjust or
modify designs to improve Body Armor Systems.
8. Recommends changes to design
criteria that may improve the form, fit, comfort and appearance of
products. Such recommendations will be
considered by the Engineering Design Team and if appropriate presented to the
Product Review Committee for approval.
9. Checks Patterns to insure they are
complete and accurate prior to making Record Samples. Provide an accurate Sample and Patterns to
Engineering Support for their use in preparing the Production Package.
10. Evaluates new fabric and hardware
items to determine whether they should be considered for use in the design
and manufacturing of Ballistic Garments and accessories.
11. Coordinates and monitors the
preparation of Production Package Items for assigned projects.
12. Presents Progress Reports and other
information as requested to the Product Review Committee and Senior
13. Coordinates the Certification of
all Record Samples, Border Samples and Patterns by Quality Assurance prior to
their release to Operations.
14. Other duties as assigned.

of garment construction, textiles, mechanical and architectural drawing,
computerized design, and basic engineering and project management. Possess the technical competence to create designs using mechanical and
electronic tools. Must have analytical
and planning skills sufficient to determine resources and time required to
complete design projects. Must possess
Technical writing and computer skills sufficient to prepare system specifications,
product descriptions, training publications and other job related documents.
Knowledge of Military and Law Enforcement equipment and weapons systems
interface with the end users and their equipment.
(2) two years formal training in the design field or Associates Degree
or Certificate in Pattern Making or Fashion Design or Industrial Design,
read, write and understand English.
Minimum of (2) two years work experience as a
Pattern Maker or Product Designer can be substituted for education
