Job Description


SUMMARY

 

The duties of a Product Engineer are to develop products based on requirements given to them by Product Engineering Manager. The Product Engineer is expected to complete engineering projects in the time provided.  Upon completion of a project it is expected that the product is ready for production.

Essential duties and accountabilities

 

·         Interpret specifications and assignments with full understanding.

·         Be able to suggest design or construction changes to increase efficiency.

·         Adapting approach to be appropriate for each situation, keeping Production/Operations in mind.

·         Makes good use of internal resources including systems, equipment, supplies, and analytical tools, etc.

·         Creation of patterns for new products including grading and alteration of new products.

·         Completion of new code checklist.

·         Creation of trim sheets for new products.

·         Maintain revision control of patterns when required

·         Creation and maintenance of piece reports when required.

·         Creation and maintenance of Pattern Log when required.

·         Review and update technical data package when required.

·         Product support for PBE and Sub-contractor production when required.

·         Trouble shooting issues reported

·         Minimal cutting or re-cutting duties (of fabric and/or trim), when applicable.

·         Completion of projects within the time allowed.

·         Notify Manager of completion of project or delays.

·         Digitizing patterns when required.

·         Supports other co-workers and departments when required.

·         Some travel may be required

·         Supervise sewers in the production of samples when required.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications/ Competencies

 

·         Language Skills: Able to communicate in English, with reading & writing required.

·         Must be able to identify various non-ballistic fabric & trim (by color& size) used on garments.

·         Must have experience using Microsoft Office, includes but, not limited to Excel & Word.

·         Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

·         Must be able to complete assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Minimum (2) two years formal training in the design field or Associates Degree or Certificate in Pattern Making or Fashion Design or Industrial Design, or Drafting (Can be substituted with experience where applicable)


Bonus qualifications

·         AutoCad knowledge a plus.

·         Accumark knowledge a plus

·         Operate machinery required to build garments a plus.

·         Familiarity with current styles offered by Point Blank Body Armor a plus.

·         Second language a plus.

 

physical demands

Moderate physical effort is required, such as going to other areas of the building to collect (ballistic and non-ballistic) samples. Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds for short distances maybe required. Willing to work additional time to complete projects as necessary.
