MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER (Aviation/Mechanical/Survivability Systems)
REPORTS TO: VP/
Director of Aviation Program Management
LOCATION: Huntsville, Alabama
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for overall Divisional Systems
Engineering inclusive of programming and technical activities. Develop and
manage corporate system engineering plan and architecture to support
contemporary and future aviation and defense programs. Identify, analyze and
develop protocols and documents to generate and manage current and anticipated
system requirements for internal and external programs. Manage program
requirements to ensure all aspects of both Government and Industry customer
requirements are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsible for requirements oversight,
development, implementation and management on all programs within The
Protective Group (TPG);
Familiarity with both document based and model
based system engineering (MBSE) philosophies;
Responsible for evolving, emerging and
requirements change awareness, knowledge, interpretation and management;
Responsible for requirements management and
requirements tracking for design, qualification and production efforts and
should have a working knowledge of DOORS or similar requirements tracking
Other responsibilities may include limited
travel in support of efforts, proposals and installations, trouble shooting,
technical support, planned and unplanned systems upgrades, configuration
management, and documentation development;
Familiarity with defense related system
specifications (i.e. DO-160, DO-180, etc.)
Ability to author, develop systems level
analysis supporting design and qualification;
Interface with Mechanical and Structures
Engineers on a regular basis;
Interface with internal and external resources
in support of plans and activities;
Manage requirements and decompose subject
requirements into their respective components;
Ability to author, develop and implemental
Develop and maintain Internal and External
Interface Control Documents;
Develop documentation in support of customer
requirements i.e. SDRLs/CDRLs;
Develop, generate and execute test plans in
support of program validation and verification;
Develop Validation Reports in support of
ballistic lab testing;
Develop Technical Reports in support of
Coordinate projects by monitoring and
maintaining Gate process and schedules;
Ability to participate in bid and proposal
process (i.e. identify and verify submission compliance and generate Basis of
Estimates and System Specifications);
Availability to traveling to support to off-site
meetings/events to represent the program as required.
Participate in organizational planning and
contribute insights, knowledge and experience to improve internal efficiencies,
ensure customer satisfaction and preserve and advance TPG’s position in a
highly competitive Threat Protection market space.
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Detail oriented self-starter with ability to
prioritize assignments, work independently and multi-task in a fast moving
R&D and production environments with shifting priorities and changing
requirements. Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired, but not required, with
strong communication and decision making skills. Good presentation skills are
also a plus. Candidate must have experience in Project Planning and should have
a working knowledge of MS Project. Position may require limited travel to
support off-site meetings and events. Experience in performing Root Cause
Analysis and implementing corrective action in order to correct deficiencies
The minimum requirement for this position is BS (mechanical, aerospace,
materials, or similar engineering discipline) + 4 years’ experience. BS degree
must be from a 4-year degree from an ABET accredited institution. Experience
with US Government/Department of Defense clients is beneficial.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to safely and successfully perform

***This position also
requires that the Systems Engineer be eligible for, and can maintain, a
government security clearance.
