SUMMARY
The Marker Room and Cutting
Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the marking,
spreading, and cutting stages of the production process. This person will lead
a team of marker makers, cutters, spreaders, and mechanics. Also, responsible
for the keeping all appropriate machinery in working order. Ensures work is done accurately, cost
effectively, safely, and compliant with company quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Oversees
all marker room functions, spreading and cutting operations to ensure
coordination of effort and timely completion of projects.
2. Responsible
for managing the marker making process: includes patternmaking, sample making,
testing, grading, marker making, setting standard, custom orders, process
management, and meeting deadlines.
a. Supervises,
instructs, and trains marker makers in the use of computerized marker making
system.
b. Manages
the marker making process and feedback on ease of production and cost of vests.
c. Supervises
and develop Marker Makers to ensure consistency and accuracy of markers.
d. Ensures a
high degree of customer satisfaction by developing an understanding of customer
expectations and managing and directing staff activities required to meet
customer expectations.
e. Develops
standards for marker making and monitor the maintenance of the pattern Library
for current product specifications.
f. Works
with all managers to ensure that the markers made will produce the most cost effective
garment.
3. Manages
and oversees marker cutting and determine effective staff.
a. Reviews
and checks the work of others for conformance to standards, precision, and
order accuracy.
4. Hires,
trains, evaluate and discipline all team members in collaboration with direct
supervisors and Plant Manager.
5. Works
closely with Master Scheduler, Plant Manager, and Director of Operations to
ensure work flow will meet scheduled objectives and production targets.
6. Works
closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and Cutting Supervisor to maintain
high level of product quality.
7. Work
closely with warehouse personnel to ensure inventory availability.
8. Designs,
develops, and enhances performance metrics in response to management
requirements.
9. Maintains
departmental historical records by filing documents, transferring inactive
files, and or destroying obsolete records.
10. Manages
and ensures that all machines in department are properly maintained and
repaired, including Gerber machines and hand cutting machines.
11. Must have
the ability to work in a team environment.
12. Maintains
a safe and clean work environment.
13. Performs
other duties as required and assigned.
14. Implements
and reinforces quality and safety protocols.
15. Responsible
for working according to the company’s safety and quality protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: An Associate's degree (two-year program
or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training. Preferred: A
BS in Fashion, Apparel, Textiles or related area.
15-20 years’ experience with Gerber Accumark
System; 15-20 years’ experience in a related role in an apparel manufacturing
environment.
Must read, write and understand English.
Excellent oral and written skills; strong
analytical skills.
Regular and predictable attendance is an
essential function for this position.
Ability to use computer software and
applications.
Team working ability.
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to
handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing
up to twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other
materials. Moving from place to place within the office; minimum reaching for
items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision
to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
