JOB TITLE: BUYER DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Materials REPORTS TO: Materials Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for purchasing activities at the Company as well as vendor management. The position is responsible for purchasing activities related to critical items such as composites, laminates, fasteners, adhesives, and fibers. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: The Buyer shall also meet the following requirements: • Fluent in the English language in both written and oral form; • Possess working knowledge of MS Office; • Knowledgeable of GD& T (Geometric dimensions and tolerances); • Able to read manufacturing drawings; • Able to read engineering technical documents and work instructions; • Able to understand and communicate special process requirements to vendors; • Able to understand multi-level BOMs (Bill of Materials); • Knowledgeable on shelf-life requirements; • Knowledgeable of MIL Standards and other USG Standards applicable to defense industry; • Experience with ERP systems; and • Knowledge of ISO 9000/AS9100 quality management systems. This position requires use of and access to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Accordingly, all Buyers must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for purchasing activities at the Company as well as vendor management. The position is responsible for purchasing activities related to critical items such as composites, laminates, fasteners, adhesives, and fibers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

 

Vendor Relations

 

    Manage the vendor assessment process for all new vendors and established vendors;
      Inform vendor of performance criteria Create vendor item cards; Maintain vendor files; and Manage vendor relations.

       

      Purchasing

       

        Request and manage vendor quotes related to MRO, consumables, and services;

        §  Provide accurate Product Definition

        §  Provide support technical documentation as required

        §  Provide requirements for compliance with MIL Standard, USG Standards, and other regulatory requirements

        §  Provide requirements for SDS, CoC, and other critical supporting documentation to ensure proper traceability;

        §  Understand and communicate lead times and potential delivery concerns internally; and

        §  Negotiate pricing and terms.

          Issue Purchase Orders related to MRO, consumables, and services

           

           

           

           

          Vendor Performance Management

            Assess and report vendor performance on a monthly basis; Communicate vendor performance results to vendors on a monthly basis; Issue corrective action requests to vendors as required;
              Manage corrective action process and follow-up Maintain Approved Vendors List

               

               

              Document Control & Reporting

                Adhere to General Procedure Requirements
                  Document, Respond, and take timely action on corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement proposals. Facilitate for timely completions on internal audits

                   

                  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

                   

                  Qualifications/requirements:

                  The Purchasing Specialist shall also meet the following requirements:

                    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 

                    Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

                     

                    Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.

                     

                    Compliance with all personnel policies.

                    Education/Training/Experience:

                    High School graduate. Minimum 2 years of purchasing and/or accounting experience preferred.
