JOB TITLE:   PROCESS ENGINEERING MANAGER

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION:  Process Engineering

REPORTS TO:  VP of Technical Services

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for managing, leading, and developing the Process Engineering Team. The Manager is responsible for working with Program Management, New Product Development, Design Engineering, Operations, and Quality Control to develop process documentation and provide manufacturing support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execution and Management of Process Engineering Activities

·         Develop and control the generation and revision of process documentation;

o   Work Instructions

o   Process Flows

o   Quality Plans

o   Process Records

o   Reference Documents

o   Inspection Records

o   Configuration Matrix

o   Assembly Instructions

o   Manufacturing Aids

o   Procedures

·         Conduct Process Training for the Process Compliance Lead, Manufacturing Forepersons and Leads, and the Quality Control Manager, Foreperson, and Leads, as required.

·         Establish Monitoring & Measuring Requirements;

·         Establish critical items and key characteristics process control;

·         Establish sampling plans for quality control;

·         Identify opportunities for process improvements;

·         Manage and complete special projects as necessary;

·         Participate in weekly production planning meetings;

·         Participate in design reviews;

·         Identify requirements for Quality Control Equipment, Tools, & Fixtures;

o   Communicate requirements to the Quality Control Supervisor

·         Identify inspection tools and templates required for production process;

·         Perform equipment validation and certification activities;

·         Communicate to the Document Controller monitoring equipment requiring calibration;

·         Identify physical layout of manufacturing floor for each project;

·         Implement required Work Environment Controls;

o   Work with the facilities department to implement required work environment controls

o   Ensure temperature monitor parameters and alerts are set as required

o   Ensure that temperature and humidity data is collected

·         Procure Manufacturing Equipment and Tooling;

·         Participate in Vendor Evaluation, Development, and Qualification Process;

o   Interface with suppliers and engineering during new product development to address component manufacturability and quality concerns; and

·         Generate Markers;

o   Perform nesting analysis based on released Toolpaths

·         Generate Waterjet layouts;

o   Create nestings, lead-ins and lead-outs, incorporate validation coupons, etc.

·         Support Quality Control Department on the verification of inspection templates by providing the one to one prints.

·         Safeguard and store production fixtures;

·         Confirm accuracy of the List of Contents for the Manufacturing Team;

·         Responsible for overseeing the generation and maintenance, for each production order, of

o   Labeling

o   Stencils

o   Process Records

o   Travelers and Traveler Labels

o   S/N Control Log

·         Establish packaging requirements (Review, Design and Identification);

·         Provide training support to manufacturing department on assemblies and other complex work activities, as required; and

·         Support the prevention of FOD in work areas.

Customer Related Processes, Gate Process, & Risk Management

·         Participate in Customer & Regulatory Requirements Review sessions;

·         Provide data to support requests for ROMs, RFQs, and RFPs for the Process Engineering department;

·         Participate in Contract Award/Kick-off Sessions to confirm customer and regulatory requirements and establish performance requirements;

·         Responsible for adhering to Company’s Gate Process Procedure [TPG-SOP-GATE]; and

·         Actively participate in risk management process as required by the Risk Management Procedure [TPG-SOP-RISK].

Quality System Management & Document Control:

·         Initiate Change Requests on initial releases or revisions of controlled documents and records;

·         Approve Change Requests as required as per the Change Control Procedure [TPG-SOP-CHANGE];

·         Adhere to General Procedure Requirements; and

o   Document, Respond, and take timely action on corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement proposals.

·         Facilitate for timely completions on internal audits.

Safety & Security:

·         Actively involved with management and employees in establishing and maintaining an effective workplace safety program; to include participation in TPG’s Safety Committee;

·         Responsible for ensuring the Process Engineering department adheres to company policies and practices related to safety; and 

·         Ensuring the Process Engineering department is adhering to the requirements of the Organization’s Security Program.

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Employee needs to be proficient in MS Office. Employee needs to have the ability to work under pressure, multi task, be detail oriented and have strong decision making and leadership skills. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards.

This position requires use of and access to information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).  Accordingly, all Process Engineering Managers must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.  ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Temporary Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree required in an engineering field or work experience equivalency.  Minimum five years experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or process engineering required. Aerospace and/or defense experience preferred. Metal fabrication and composite experience desirable.
