Job Description


The IT Application Development Manager will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of software engineers in the design, development, testing, and construction of all applications to run in our information technology environment. Primary responsibilities are to work closely with management, customers, Quality Assurance, Product Design, Product management, and customer support to maintain and develop new products.


1.       Provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for client engagement from definition phase through implementation.

2.       Works closely with the VP of IT on expanding and enforcing architecture best practices.

3.       Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.

4.       Schedule, review and approve development team assignments.

5.       Recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.

6.       Manages work requests and resource workload across development resources.

7.       Participates in hiring and growth of the technical team including hiring and screening personnel.

8.       Strategic Framework Planning in support of new industry trends and growth as it relates to functional and technical integration and development.

9.       Creates and execute development plans and revise to meet changing needs/requirements

10.    Informs project managers of development status and serves as liaison between development staff and project manager.

11.    Ensures technical teams are contributing to our code library.

12.    Own the development lifecycle and manage technical risks throughout projects.

13.    Ensures the development and adherence to coding standards.

14.    Performs periodic code reviews and mentor junior developers.

15.    Manages technical resources within budget and project schedule.

16.    Forecast resource requirements and budgeting needs.

17.    Maintains consistent delivery level of software quality by working with designers and quality assurance personnel for full project development lifecycle

18.    Manages selection and mentor employees and provide feedback in the form of employee reviews

19.    As necessary, develop and debut software related issues

20.    Understand complex database concepts and effectively employ different database design techniques.

21.    Possess demonstrated work experience with more than one relational database management system.

22.    Understand Object oriented concepts and consistently apply them in client engagements.

23.    The ability to work on, facilitate, and support multiple projects and real-time support issues

24.    Performs additional duties as necessary and as required.


  • BS/BA or MA in Computer Sciences, related field or equivalent experience required. Microsoft or Oracle DB certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of (5) five years of management/ leadership experience in a software development required.
  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience coaching and leading software development teams.
  • Must have at least 4 years’ experience working through the design, development, and release cycle delivering software to market.
  • Experience with Team Foundation Version Control
  • (5) Five years of experience in managing Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases
  • (5) Five years of experience developing applications in, HTML,
  • Solid development debugging, testing, and problem solving skills
  • Strong understanding of the software development cycle.
  • Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem solving skills.
  • Project management experience desired.
  • Be able to excel in idea generation, evaluation, and prioritization, customer and partner engagement, cross-functional technical program management and build/ develop great engineering teams.
  • Experience solving complex software problems.
  • A record of successful delivery of software systems as an individual, team leader and or/ development manager.
  • A willingness to dive into software environments and technical issues as part of maintaining the skills necessary to manage and advocate products and projects.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with strong product and program management skills.
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft desktop & server operating systems and networking components.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications as they relate to and interact with the enterprise network.
  • XML experience
  • Database performance tuning experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server database structures.
  • Knowledge of web server infrastructure (IIS)
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function for this position
  • Team working ability.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Experience in X++ - Nice to have

Sitting for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to (25) twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; minimum reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
