First Tactical offers tactical gear for elite operators, law enforcement officers, and first responders around the globe. At First Tactical we see graphic design as the visual medium to tell the First Tactical story and show that our designers at First Tactical have created what we feel is the BEST public safety apparel and gear on the market. We are looking for a highly creative graphic designer who can take conceptual ideas and create visual representations, both in print and digital media that connects, enlightens, and inspires. Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of current design software, knowledge of 4 color printing and pre-press file set up and skilled with every step of the design process from concept to the final deliverable.

Job Description

Graphic Designer Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans and illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetics.
  • Coordinates with internal teams, including marketing, in the design concept phase through completion of a project.
  • Create mock-ups and comps for presentations and approval sign-off.
  • Assist with photo shoots - flats, product, look book.
  • Photograph products and retouch/color correct as needed.
  • Design layout of books, corporate and marketing materials.
  • Concept, design and maintain trim packages according to brand direction.
  • Obtains approval of concepts by preparing rough layouts for review.
  • Prepares final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
  • Obtains final copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment and by making purchases from vendors when required.
  • Ensures operation of design equipment and software by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment.
  • Coordinates with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc. to complete projects.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
  • Interpret client’s needs & present design solutions with high visual impact.
  • Amend final designs to client’s comments and gain full approval from all stakeholder.
  • Collaborate on design with other team members.
  • Receive & interpret direction from the creative lead.
  • Maintain open communication with creative lead and project manager on the status of all jobs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following credentials:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing or related discipline
  • Expertise in digital design website, email and digital ads with good understanding of HTML, responsive design
  • Ability to absorb and apply constructive criticism from peers and clients with a professional approach and flexibility
  • Ability to interpret and follow brand guidelines
  • Creative thinker with a strong eye for design
  • Strong computer skills with extensive experience with design programs (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign)
  • Ability to execute work against a brief, understanding clients’ needs and proposing solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to present and explain ideas
  • Solid teamwork skills
  • Deadline driven with the ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry and industry software
